An homage to the quintessential ESB by Fuller’s in England, created using British malts, English and Ontario hops, and the actual Fuller’s yeast strain. Enjoy biscuity malt with hints of toffee and fresh bread, mingling with pine, herbal grass, and a touch of orange blossom esters from the hops. Finishes dry with a soft apricot-marmalade fruitiness.

What You’ll Love About It

The acronym stands for Extra Special Bitter, but contrary to the name an ESB balances a hefty malt sweetness with a notable - but not overwhelming - hop bitterness. When made right, the balance makes for a delicious and inviting all-day ale.

How It's Made

Sometimes curiosity comes from an uncommon level of restraint, and this cover-song of a beer is just that. English Maris Otter and Crystal malts with English and Ontario hops, and the coup de grâce: The actual Fuller’s English yeast strain.

Why Is It Called Thames River?

Fuller’s ESB is a classic British ale, born in 1971 along the River Thames in England. Finally turning out our own was a fun challenge, and of course we named it after that same body of water that the Fuller’s Griffin Brewery still lies on.

How To Enjoy It

In a beautiful shaker pint glass at 10-13° Celsius.

Did You Know?

The yeast strain we used for this beer comes from the Fuller's brewery in London, England, and is known for providing rich stone fruit flavours from esters.
