Three years. Feels like just yesterday we were first getting started, and now we turn three. We've been on a journey that took us from a dream to create great beer for Ontario to a chance to combine incredible New Zealand hops with all we’ve learned about lagers. Enjoy the expressions offered by Riwaka, Motueka, Nelson Sauvin, and NZ Cascade hops with Canadian malts, oats, and wheat, lovingly crafted to thank you all for three incredible years.
What You’ll Love About It
We've truly attempted to combine all the things we love about crispy lagers with hazy IPAs into one special beer. That light malty snap and brisk carbonation of a pilsner, and the cacaphony of flavours and aromas you get from truly special hops. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it!
How It's Made
Pilsner, oats, and wheat set that malty base for these New Zealand hops to play on. We used the Motueka and New Zealand Cascade in our whirlpool, then dry hopped it with Nelson Sauvin and Riwaka.
Why Is It Called Te Toru?
Te Toru directly translates to "The Three" in Māori, and is a stream on New Zealand's North Island’s East Coast, near Gisborne.
How To Enjoy It
Between 3°C to 7°C in a SITW TeKu glass.
Did You Know?
One of our favourite things to do is play with "normal" hops grown in different terroir. Like Chinook grown in Michigan's ability to deliver pineapple, the Cascade hop when grown in New Zealand still offers that rich citrus and grapefruit, but with notes of tropical fruit, red berry, and light apple blossom that you won't find in Cascade hops grown elsewhere.
